1. Who we are
This site is published by the 8CPC Pension Calculator team, an independent team in India. We are not a government website and have no link with the Government of India, the 8th Central Pay Commission, DoPPW, CPAO, DESW, any union, bank or political party. We do not use the State Emblem or any ministry logo.
2. Sources we use
- Primary (official): Cabinet decisions on pib.gov.in; office memoranda of the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare and the Department of Expenditure; the CCS (Pension) Rules and the CCS (Commutation of Pension) Rules; the Pensioners' Portal; the 8th CPC's own website (8cpc.gov.in); SPARSH and DESW for defence pensioners; Labour Bureau for CPI-IW; replies in Parliament.
- Secondary (reported): major newspapers and agencies, used only for demands by unions and associations and for news of events — always labelled "Demand" or "as reported".
- Not used: WhatsApp forwards, YouTube thumbnails, screenshots without a source, and other calculator sites.
3. How rates are verified
- Every figure used in a calculation (DR rate, minimum and maximum pension, family pension rates, additional pension slabs, FMA, commutation rules) is checked against the official document itself, not a summary.
- The document is linked in the Sources box of each tool page, and the date we last opened it is shown as "Last verified".
- Calculations are tested against official worked examples where they exist — for instance all four pension examples in Annexure I of the DoPPW OM dated 12.05.2017 — and against automated tests before every release.
- Anything not yet decided — the 8th CPC fitment factor, new minimum, date of effect, a DR instalment not yet ordered — is labelled "Estimate — not official" wherever it appears.
4. Update process
- We check pib.gov.in, doppw.gov.in, doe.gov.in and 8cpc.gov.in for new decisions, with extra attention on Cabinet days.
- When an official decision appears (for example a DR instalment), we update the single settings block that drives every calculator, re-run the tests, and publish the change the same day where possible.
- A Cabinet decision and the later DoPPW order are logged separately; we wait for the order before treating rules of detail as final.
- Every change is recorded with its date and source on the changelog.
5. Corrections policy
- Anyone can report an error through the contact page; a link to the official order helps.
- We check each report against the primary source. Verified errors in a rule or calculation are fixed promptly and logged on the changelog with what changed.
- We do not silently change figures. If a past estimate is overtaken by an official decision, the page says so.
- If we disagree with a report, we reply with the source we relied on.
6. Independence and money
- The site is free. It may show advertising in future to cover costs; ads will never be placed inside calculators, and no advertiser can influence content.
- We do not accept payment for links, rankings or wording, and we do not sell financial products.
- We collect no personal data through the calculators — see the privacy policy.
7. Language
Every page is published in English and in simple Hindi with the same facts, examples and sources. If the two versions ever differ, the version that matches the official order is correct, and we fix the other.
8. Limits
We explain rules and show estimates; we do not give individual financial, legal or tax advice, and we cannot access anyone's pension records. Your Pension Disbursing Authority fixes your actual pension under official orders. See the disclaimer.
